Silksong Verdania Map Location and Green Prince Quest Steps
Verdania represents a significant shift in environmental storytelling within Pharloom. As a lush, overgrown sanctuary tucked away behind the mechanical rigidness of the Citadel, this late-game region serves as a pivotal location for those progressing through Act 3. Accessing the Verdania map and mastering the unique memory mechanics of Lost Verdania requires specific preparation, including the completion of the Silk and Soul questline and the rescue of the Green Prince.
Entering Verdania and the Act 3 requirement
Verdania is not accessible through standard exploration in the early or mid-game. To even set foot in this verdant expanse, Hornet must trigger the world transformation known as Act 3. This is achieved by completing the Silk and Soul quest, which involves assisting the Robed Caretaker in the Songclave. Once the world state shifts, the barriers in the Greymoor area become brittle, allowing passage to the overgrown facility infrastructure.
Before you can unlock the full potential of the Verdania map, the Green Prince must be liberated. Early in your journey, you likely encountered him locked in a cage within the lower-middle sections of Sinner’s Road. This requires a Simple Key to open. Freeing him here is the catalyst for a multi-stage quest that spans several regions, eventually culminating in your entry into the heart of Verdania.
Finding the Verdania map item
The physical Verdania map is a key item found in the easternmost section of the region. Many players make the mistake of attempting the memory puzzles before securing the map, which can lead to significant disorientation due to the verticality of the Lush Sanctuary.
To locate the map, navigate to the far east of the Greymoor boundary where the foliage begins to swallow the stone architecture. Look for a breakable wall positioned in the upper-right corner of a large chamber filled with Pendra enemies. After destroying the wall, proceed east through a series of platforms guarded by Lost Pharlids. At the far right end of this hidden passage, you will find an old camp. The map lies next to a bug’s corpse near a bench, which serves as a crucial respawn point for the difficult platforming sections ahead.
Once obtained, the map can be viewed using the standard map interface (L1 on PlayStation, L on Switch, or LB on Xbox). It reveals the layout of both the "Real" Verdania and the interconnected chambers of the Sanctuary.
The Green Prince questline progression
The Green Prince is the central NPC of this region, and his presence dictates your progress. To fully map out Verdania, you must interact with him in a specific sequence across Pharloom:
- Sinner’s Road: Liberate him from the cage using a Simple Key.
- Choral Chambers: He appears near the Ventrica Station after he is freed. Speaking to him here provides lore context regarding the "Elegy of the Deep."
- Citadel Spa: Locate him on the left side of the Spa area. He will comment on the mechanical corruption of the water.
- Cogwork Core: He is found in the middle section, though he only appears after the Cogwork Dancers boss has been defeated.
- Greymoor/Verdania Border: His final "real world" location is the cave opening leading into Verdania’s eastern section.
Speaking to him at the Verdania border while in possession of the Elegy of the Deep ability allows Hornet to enter the Green Prince's memories. This initiates the transition to Lost Verdania, a spectral version of the sanctuary where the most dense portion of the Verdania map is located.
Navigating Lost Verdania and shard collection
Lost Verdania is a memory realm where Hornet must collect glowing shards to restore the Green Prince’s past. The environment here is more hazardous than the physical world, featuring unique traversal mechanics centered around Glowing Buds and green spheres.
Traversal mechanics: Glowing Buds
Throughout the memory, you will encounter green, glowing buds. Striking these buds with the needle causes green spheres to sprout and attach to vines. These spheres act as temporary platforms or propulsion points. Mastery of the Claw Line and Swift Step ancestral arts is highly recommended before attempting these sequences, as many shards are positioned over instant-death spike pits.
The first shard: The Mantis Statue
Upon entering the memory, move east past the Green Prince’s spectral form. You will encounter Nuphar and Pendra enemies. Continue right until you reach a platform with a glowing bud. Use the spheres to propel yourself upward, but instead of continuing the ascent, drop down to the right corner to find a Mantis Statue. Destroying this statue releases the first set of shards. Note that these shards are time-sensitive; if they are not collected within a few seconds of the statue breaking, they will dissipate, requiring you to rest at a bench to reset the area.
The second shard: The Three Fountains puzzle
The second shard requires activating a complex mechanism involving three pressure plates. This area is found by taking the upper-left path from the central Glowing Bud hub.
- Plate 1: Located in the far right corner of the lower chamber. It is guarded by Pendragors. Stepping on it causes a fountain to emerge in the center of the room.
- Plate 2: Requires a continuous aerial sequence. Use the Glowing Bud at the top of the central platform and maneuver to the left ledge without touching the ground.
- Plate 3: Located at the highest point of the western chamber. Use the Needolin down-press ability to bounce off the spheres generated by the buds to reach the final ledge.
Once all three plates are depressed, a giant pressure plate in the center of the room activates. Using the Needolin on this central plate will trigger the emergence of a shrine and the second shard set.
The third shard: The High Ascent
The final shard is located at the summit of the Lush Sanctuary. This requires a difficult vertical climb using the Drifter’s Cloak to dash between vine networks. At the very top of this vertical shaft, another Mantis Statue is hidden behind a leafy screen. Destroying it completes the collection, unlocking the path to the Clover Dancers.
Boss encounters in Verdania
Verdania features two primary boss encounters that test different aspects of Hornet's combat kit.
The Clover Dancers
The Clover Dancers are a multi-target boss encounter found within the heart of the memory. They utilize synchronized movements and floral projectiles that fill the screen. The strategy here involves managing the space; focusing on one dancer while keeping the others in your peripheral vision is essential. Their attacks often leave small windows for the Silk Bind ability, but overextending can lead to being trapped between their dual-spinning attacks.
Palestag: The Sanctuary Guardian
Palestag serves as the final gatekeeper of Verdania. Unlike the ethereal Clover Dancers, Palestag is a physical powerhouse that utilizes charging attacks and a massive stag-beetle horn to zone Hornet. The fight takes place in a large arena with multiple levels. Using the Claw Line to stay above Palestag during his charge phase is a safer alternative to trying to parry his horn, which has a deceptively large hitbox. Defeating Palestag is necessary to reach the Green Prince's house and conclude the memory sequence.
Final rewards and the Conjoined Heart
After completing the memory of Lost Verdania and defeating the bosses, Hornet is returned to the ruined, physical version of Verdania. The most notable reward here is the Conjoined Heart, a powerful charm-like item that enhances Hornet’s ability to generate silk during successful parries.
Additionally, the Verdania map will now show the "Apostate Key" location in a secret chamber near the Moss Grotto. This key is essential for accessing the hidden endings of Silksong and interacting with the ethereal beings in the Wisp Thicket.
Exploration tips for the Verdania region
- Audio Cues: The Lush Sanctuary is filled with dense foliage that often hides secret passages. Listen for the distinct rustling sound of leaves or the chime of a hidden collectible. Many walls that appear solid are actually traversable.
- Needolin Usage: The Needolin down-press is not just a combat move; it is a vital traversal tool in Verdania. Use it on the green spheres to gain massive height without consuming silk.
- Hazard Management: The flora in Verdania is often toxic. The nuphar enemies release clouds of spores upon death. It is often better to use ranged tools like the Pincer Fly to dispatch them from a distance rather than engaging in close quarters.
- Ability Gating: If you find yourself unable to reach certain platforms in the upper canopy, you likely need the Cling Grip or Swift Step. It is recommended to explore the Putrified Ducts and obtain all basic tools before committing to a full completion of the Verdania map.
Verdania stands as a testament to Pharloom's ancient history, offering a blend of high-speed platforming and challenging multi-enemy combat. By following the Green Prince’s questline and meticulously collecting the memory shards, you will uncover the secrets of this nature sanctuary and secure the necessary components for the final stages of the game.
